Scott Sanchez is the Chief Innovation Officer at Nationwide, leading new business innovation and incubation, enterprise innovation, and venture capital for the company. His extensive experience in product management and design has helped him make simple and impactful products or experiences that satisfy users. He brings a user-centered approach to innovation, also known as “design thinking,” to create products and experiences that people can’t imagine, and then can’t imagine going back.
Prior to coming to Nationwide, Scott was the Vice President of Innovation and User Experience at First Data, a global leader in commerce-enabling technology. There, he founded and ran the Innovation Lab. He had previously spent time at Visa running Commercial Marketing as well as at Intuit where he worked in project management and in the innovation lab.
Scott has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Princeton University. Passionate about inspiring innovators from all walks of life, Scott is a faculty member of the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University (the d. school). This is where he encourages students to focus of “design thinking” to tackle messy problems together. Additionally, he is on the faculty at Emory University where he teaches innovation to students, executives and faculty.
