6/9/16 – At the 2016 Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide, there was no shortage of champions.
Joining the world’s best golfers at the Tournament were Super Bowl champ, five-time NFL MVP and Nationwide member Peyton Manning and several Nationwide Children’s Hospital Patient Champions.
To help kick off the Memorial Tournament week, Manning joined PGA TOUR pros at the Nationwide Invitational at the Memorial — the Tournament’s official Pro-Am — which hosted eight Patient Champions and their families for a VIP experience they’re likely to cherish the rest of their lives.
The Patient Champions, ranging in age from eight to 19, received personalized caddie bibs to wear on the course and enjoyed behind-the-scenes activities, including meet-and-greets with the players, autographs and a visit to the 18th hole leaderboard.
“The Patient Champion Program celebrates the life-saving care provided at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and its courageous patients,” says Chief Marketing Officer Terrance Williams. “Nationwide has a long-standing commitment to children’s wellbeing, and we’re proud to continue that philanthropic relationship here at the tournament.”
Through our partnership with the Memorial Tournament, Nationwide has helped raise more than $4 million for Nationwide Children’s Hospital — including this year’s Legends Luncheon, which raised a record-setting $1.1 million for the hospital.
The tournament was capped Sunday afternoon on the 18th green, where William McGirt defeated Jon Curran on the second playoff hole to earn his first victory on the PGA TOUR. McGirt celebrated his victory by receiving the crystal trophy from Tournament host and founder Jack Nicklaus.
