Most Popular Pet Names of 2012

Walking the dog.

Some people view adopting an animal as a chance to be creative – like those who make up clever names such as Ozzy Pawsbourne, Mr. Meowgi and Afro Thunder. But it seems the majority of pet owners prefer classics like Lucy, Max or Buddy. Find out where they stacked up among the top pet names.

Here are the 10 most popular pet names of 2012, from VPI Pet Insurance:

Turns out the Twilight craze doesn’t end with baby names (the top baby names of 2013 are likely to be Bella and Jacob), it’s taken over our pets’ names too. Bella topped the list of popular dog and cat names in 2012, and came in third for birds and exotic pets. Hopefully parents who like the name Bella use it for just their pet or daughter – not both. It could get confusing.
